Talabani Tekiye

On the front lines against the Islamic State, the Talabani Tekiye and Mosque of Kirkuk is a bastion of liberal Islam. To this day, the Talabani family offers sermons and prayers in every language of the city, including Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, Turcoman, and Kurdish. Additionally, both women and men serve the devotees as mullahs. Kashkul researchers studied the theology and practice of this place and how, over generations, people have maintained their openness.
