Arrival

Shene Mohammed, Srusht Barzan, and Savan Abdulrahman Ahmed started Arrival, a project in which we analyze, compare, select, and translate essential literary contributions from Kurdistan, Iraq, and the wider MENA region. The idea Shene, Srusht and Savan had has grown to span centuries and genres, with over 60 translators moving among Kurdish (Kurmanji, Sorani, Hawrami), Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Since 2016, Kashkul translators have published over 2,000 pages of literature in translation, and Kashkul has guided dozens of emerging translators to their debut publications, introducing over 40 authors from the region to English and Spanish in prestigious magazines, journals, and books published in over 30 countries.
